"Everyone needs storage," Piccalio co-founder, Ali Tavsanoglu said of the inspiration behind Piccalio's new storage collection. Coming this fall, the storage collection will feature four beautiful, heirloom-quality pieces designed to grow with your child and simplify daily routines.

"Our goal was to create stylish, thoughtfully designed storage units that make life easier for parents while also inspiring independence in little ones," he explained. In the works since 2022, the new storage pieces build on our already existing Montessori Bookshelf and Stackable Play Shelf. Altogether, the complete storage collection combines functionality and harmony in your home.

Piccalio's Storage: Made for Them, Designed for You

Piccalio co-founders, Ali Tavsanoglu and Aneta Kostic, collaborated with an AD Top 100 designer (who also happens to be a Montessori mama) to design the new collection. Here's what's new:

Toy Box: Made of gorgeous oak, the Toy Box looks great anywhere, allowing parents and children to share space gracefully. We thought of every detail, perfecting the size to optimize storage and preventing accidents with a slow-closing lid.

Wall Shelf: Mimicking the shape of the convertible tower, this wall-mounted shelf grows with your child. It effortlessly transitions from a nursery wall shelf to a decorative shelf for children to keep photos, memory boxes, and other treasures.

Toy Organizer: Looking to tame the clutter in your child's bedroom or playroom? This toy storage organizer features adjustable cubbies for keeping all their treasures. Even toddlers can sort toy cars, blocks, and stuffed animals into the attractive wooden bins.

All pieces are carefully crafted using high-quality FSC® certified wood and non-toxic, water-based finishes. We went the extra mile to get all pieces Greenguard Gold Certified, which is a third-party testing organization that tests for over 10,000 VOCs. Additionally, our storage collection items exceed safety standards, ensuring they're as safe and sustainable as they are beautiful.

Our Founder's Philosophy on Kids' Toy Storage

Inspired by the Montessori method, Tavsanoglu and Kostic believe children should participate in keeping the home tidy. With this in mind, they created kids' toy storage solutions that inspire and facilitate independence.

"All kids have toys," Tavsanoglu said with a chuckle. "But you have to organize the chaos and show your child how to be tidy. As much as possible, we want to make life easier for parents, because we know it's a challenge."

Functional Kids' Furniture Can Foster Independence

The Toy Organizer and Toy Box are easy for children to use correctly, taking a bit of the load off parents. Parents may need to start cleaning up alongside their children, but children pick up on these routines quickly. Before you know it, your toddler will be able to group like-items in the correct storage bins of the Toy Organizer or put away stuffed animals in the Toy Box.

As parents, Tavsanoglu and Kostic have first-hand experience with managing toy storage. "Right now, the Toy Box is all we need for toy storage," Tavsanoglu said, referring to his 8-month-old daughter. "We have the Toy Box next to the Play Mat in the living room, so she's included in family life."

In addition to rattles, stuffed toys, and colored blocks, Tavsanoglu also stores favorite board books in the Toy Box. "We change up what we give to her so she doesn't get bored," he explained. Rotating toys like this can simplify toy organization while also keeping your child engaged.

Beautiful, Timeless Storage Solutions for the Whole Family to Enjoy

Even though the storage collection is for children, Tavsanoglu and Kostic kept parents in mind during the design process. For example, parents are more likely to use the Wall Shelf during the early years.

"Right now, we use ours as nursery wall shelves for baby bits and bobs we don’t want in baby’s reach, like a clock, a basket with hats & socks, a few toys, and nail trimmers," Kostic explained. "As she grows, I can see this shelf transition as a decorative shelf for her things, like books, a lamp, or a memory box."

Similarly, other items also may serve multiple purposes. For example, the Toy Box is also the perfect entryway seat for a shoe station. "We hope families use these pieces in a way that suits them and their family," Kostic said.

"Ultimately, we wanted to create pieces we would like to have in our own home. That comes down to a combination of good design, finding the right manufacturer, and safe, high-quality materials," Tavsanoglu elaborated about the design process.
