When my daughter was a baby, she got the worst diaper rash. The red, irritated skin made her cry and I felt helpless. No diaper creams seemed to help soothe her sensitive skin. I changed her diapers constantly, trying to keep her clean and dry. It was a relief for both of us when I finally learned to treat and prevent diaper rash.

Finding the right diaper rash cream for your baby takes some work. What worked for my oldest son didn't work for my daughter and I had to start from scratch. Natural diaper rash creams were part of the solution. Here are our favorite natural creams for treating diaper rash.

Best Diaper Rash Creams

Protect and prevent diaper rash with these natural options. They'll keep your baby's skin soft and protected.

1. Best Organic Diaper Rash Ointment Cream: Earth Mama - $12.99

Made with plant based ingredients, Earth Mama's Organic Diaper Balm keeps your baby's bottom rash-free. This is one of few diaper rash ointments that works well with cloth diapers. Plus, it's trusted by NICUs in many hospitals.

Ingredients like tea tree oil have antibacterial and antifungal properties. This may help prevent yeast infections and protect your baby's skin from dirty diapers. This ointment also contains St. John's Wort, which helps heal wounds.

Apply a thin layer of Earth Mama's cream after every change and bath to eliminate and prevent diaper rash. You can also use this healing balm for cuts and scrapes.

2. Best Butt Cream with Zinc Oxide: Tubby Todd Diaper Paste - $19

Zinc oxide is a trusted and proven ingredient for preventing and treating diaper rash. Tubby Todd's Sweet Cheeks butt cream combines the power of non-nano zinc oxide with organic ingredients. The full list of ingredients includes shea butter, jojoba oil, caster seed oil, and sunflower seed oil. These oils and the zinc oxide can help create a protective barrier, protecting your baby's skin from wet diapers.

In my experience, zinc oxide worked wonderfully for keeping all three of my babies comfortable while wearing diapers. The only downside is that it can be tough to wash off.

3. Best Natural Diaper Rash Cream: Primally Pure Baby Balm - $20

The balm works hard, providing relief for diaper rash, dry, chafed skin, and other skin conditions. Many parents report that this cream helped clear their baby's eczema. So, try this hard-working balm for all of your skin needs.

4. Best Sustainable Diaper Cream: Attitude Baby Diaper Cream- $16.95

Finally, a diaper rash cream that comes in a convenient cardboard tube. Apply it to your baby's skin similarly to deodorant, mess-free! This fragrance free cream is made with a variety of nourishing oils that protect your baby's skin. It also includes zinc oxide, which helps create a protective barrier.

Keeping Your Baby Rash Free

Butt creams are part prevention and part cure. If your baby is like my daughter and gets frequent diaper rashes, try applying diaper rash cream after every change, even when there's no active rash. Also, try to change soiled diapers promptly to keep the rash from getting worse. You may also consider switching diapers or wipes to ensure these aren't irritating your baby.

We wish you a rash-free future with these great diaper creams!
