Toddlers can begin using a table and chair around the time they can walk steadily. For most children, this is between 12 and 18 months of age.

Getting your child a toddler table and chair as soon as they’re ready can boost independence and confidence. Additionally, a play table and chair set encourages motor skill development as your child moves the chairs around and uses the space for arts, crafts, play, snacks, and more.

A Montessori table is a child-sized table and chairs, typically made of natural wood. Dr. Montessori was one of the first people to create child-sized furniture. She noticed children benefit from being able to arrange and use furniture independently.

To use a Montessori table and chair the Montessori way, show your child how to pull out and push in the chair. Also, encourage your child to care for their space by putting art supplies, dishes, and/or toys away after using the table.

The best table shape for toddlers is a shape that makes it easy for them to work. Rectangles and squares are ideal shapes for toddler tables, as children can easily work on a drawing or read a book, lining up with the edge of the table. Also, these shapes make it easy to see where the chairs belong. Ultimately, any table shape works well for toddlers as long as the table height is comfortable and matches the chairs.

A weaning table is a small table designed for little ones who are starting to eat solid foods. An alternative to a high chair, typically, children transfer to a weaning table around 12 to 18 months. A weaning table can be worth it for many families, as this set-up fosters independence and facilitates peaceful mealtimes.

Any toddler table and chair set can serve as a weaning table. Our Reversible Chair and Table Set features a chair with 3 height options so it grows with your child. The lowest height is ideal for 1 to 2-year-olds, making it an excellent weaning table option.

The Reversible Rainbow Chair and Play Table are made from sustainably sourced FSC® European solid beech wood. We use a 0-VOC water-based finish that is formaldehyde, phthalate, substances/lead free. Natural wood offers a warm, organic feel that ages beautifully. With variations in the grain, the exact appearance may differ slightly from one piece to another.

Playing should be fun. But also safe. All Piccalio toys and furniture are rigorously tested and certified. They’re non-toxic, compliant with ASTM and Prop65. We never use harmful chemicals or substances in the making or manufacturing of our products.

Use a damp, clean cloth to wipe the surfaces. Slight maintenance may be required over time.

Don’t leave or store your Piccalio products outside. They are protected by a lacquer coating but are made of wood and are therefore susceptible to damage caused by exposure to rain and wet conditions.

We recommend keeping our wood products in dry, non-humid environments, and kept away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances that produce heat.
