Toddler Table and Reversible Chair Set

Most children are ready for a kids table and chair set between 12 and 18 months, or once they can walk steadily.

Getting your child a toddler table and chair as soon as they’re ready can boost independence and confidence. Additionally, a play table and chair set encourages motor skill development as your child moves the chairs around and uses the space for arts, crafts, play, snacks, and more.

A Montessori table is a child-sized table and chairs, typically made of natural wood. Dr. Montessori was one of the first people to create child-sized furniture. She noticed children benefit from being able to arrange and use furniture independently.

To use a Montessori table and chair the Montessori way, show your child how to pull out and push in the chair. Also, encourage your child to care for their space by putting art supplies, dishes, and/or toys away after using the table.

A weaning table is a small baby table and chair set designed for little ones who are starting to eat solid foods. An alternative to a high chair, typically, babies transfer to a weaning table around 12 to 18 months. A weaning table can be worth it for many families, as this set-up fosters independence and facilitates peaceful mealtimes.

Any small toddler table and chair set can serve as a weaning table. Our Reversible Chair and Table Set features a chair with 3 height options so it grows with your child. The lowest height is ideal for 1 to 2-year-olds, making it an excellent weaning table option.

The Montessori method of weaning prioritizes independence and respect for the child. Instead of using a high chair and spoon-feeding, children use a weaning table, real dishes and cutlery, and open cups. Often combined with baby-led weaning (BLW), little ones self-feed safe foods.

When able, babies sit at a baby table and chair set so that they can get up independently when finished. Also, children practice using cutlery, dishes, and a very small glass cup. By using real table items, babies learn to participate in family mealtimes and achieve greater independence.

The best time to transition a toddler from a high chair to a table is typically between 12 and 18 months of age. At this time, children can sit without assistance. A popular choice is to use a weaning table, or a small toddler table and chair set, that fosters independent mealtimes.

Every family is different, and some prefer to transition their toddler to the table when they are slightly older, when they are 2 or 3 years old. Transitioning your toddler at a younger age can encourage independence, teach mealtime etiquette, and limit frustration.

Minimalist kids’ tables and chairs are designed to feel like real furniture rather than playroom-only pieces. Clean lines, solid wood construction, and calm finishes allow them to live comfortably in shared spaces like kitchens, dining areas, and living rooms without visual clutter. Families often choose this style when they want children’s furniture that blends naturally with neutral, modern home decor instead of standing out as a temporary or toy-like item.
